my eyes open.
While we were in Cincinnati....Ryan was up VERY early one morning. I was just checking in on him, and he was lying in bed with his eyes open. I said, "Hey buddy, I thought you were sleeping".
He said, "I was....sometimes I like to sleep with my eyes open so I don't miss anything!"

This comment by Ryan got me misty eyed-remembering a little Charlie (who was up & "ready to go" before the birds were chirping)- he would tell us he "didn't want to waste time sleeping"...and so it goes :)
